Mobility Roashow 2013 Telford

Thameside have attended five Mobility Roadshows. Two at Kemble, three at Peterborough and were so pleased to be invited to the anniversary event at Telford. As usual our stand was situated in the sports area so that we could use the activity floor sponsored by RGK for demos and public participation. The sports area also provides people with the opportunity to participate in wheelchair basketball, rugby, football and sledge hockey.

There were many disability sports stands including a very popular rock climbing wall, where people with all manner of disabilities were helped to climb or be hoisted to the top of the wall. No one was turned down. In the past we have tried wheelchair basket ball and sledge hockey and this year Margaret chanced her arm in the hoist to the top of the wall. Her performance was noted by the organizers who congratulated her on her elegant flight. Once again we renewed our connections with PHAB, with whom we have worked with for the past two years.

Several visitors from previous shows, renewed their acquaintance but one in particular stole the show doing the circle dance and the cha cha cha. We understand that she used the routine she had learnt with us at a previous show to earn a Brownie badge. Jessica is a real star.

Our thanks to Rycroft Photoraphy for the above image.

It was a great show and we hope that the people who participated in the workshops will be able to continue to enjoy a new social activity.
